What is dental implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
Dental implants are specially made titanium screws that are anchored into the jawbone to provide a solid foundation for a replacement of single tooth or complete set of teeth.Implants are not visible in mouth so they blend with your surrounding teeth and give you a natural and beautiful smile.Implants are visible only on X-Rays.
No More Bone Loss
When you lose a tooth, you also start losing your teeth bone everyday.Overtime, this bone loss can cause your jaw to look sunken, resulting in premature aging.Unlike Dentures and Bridges,Dental Implants virtually stop the progression of facial bone loss.
It is important to understand that with dentures and bridges, bone loss continues and can result in pain, discomfort and significant facial aging.Ignoring this, the condition only worsens and the treatment options become more expensive.
Dentures are used for replacing missing teeth with their associated problems. They often slip or click, can cause bad breadth, and create lots of discomfort and inconvenience. Dentures require the use of adhesive powder and creams, and must be removed every night for cleaning. They also prevent you from eating many of the foods you like. People with dentures say that they end up feeling restricted, and less confident which impacts their personal and professional life.
No More Bridges
With bridges ,adjacent healthy teeth must be trimmed/grinded to allow bridge to be fixed.
It’s creating a three-tooth solution for a one tooth problem. Accompanying teeth are weakened and often fail along with bridge within a few years. And like dentures, bridges to nothingto stop the problem of bone loss.
Types of dental implants
- Endosteal (in the bone): This is the most commonly used type of implant. The various types include screws, cylinders or blades surgically placed into the jawbone. Each implant holds one or more prosthetic teeth. This type of implant is generally used as an alternative for patients with bridges or removable dentures.
- Subperiosteal (on the bone): These are placed on top of the jaw with the metal framework’s posts protruding through the gum to hold the prosthesis. These types of implants are used for patients who are unable to wear conventional dentures and who have minimal bone height.
Dental Implants : Beautiful Solution For Missing Teeth
From one tooth to entire teeth
You may have missing only one tooth or completely missing entire set of teeth, Dental Implants are the best solution as they function like natural teeth. Denture and Bridges can provide solution for missing teeth but they have their limitations.
In both Denture and Bridges, bone loss continues as such. Dentures are not fixed, movable in mouth. Bridges require peeling of enamel of adjacent teeth of missing space. Dental Implants are fixed in place, function like natural teeth, can last a life time. Putting Dental Implants requires less time in Dental Chair and absolutely painless.
